Persons participating in the online event are clarified about the processing of their personal data by automatic methods by means of processing and transferring personal data to the database through the software after it is obtained via the remote meeting platform for the purposes described below within the scope of the provisions of the data controller’s clarification obligations regulated by Atatürk University in the capacity of data controller in the Article 10 of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data No. 6698.

  1. Processing of Your Personal Data, Purpose and Legal Reason

1.1. Our events will be held via the zoom platform, and your visual and audio data in the form of audio and video recordings at the meetings and your data in the form of your name, surname, e-mail address, the information about the institution / company you are affiliated with are processed by the platform on which the event is held if you activate the camera and microphone. In addition, the questions you ask on the Chat screen are read by our speakers and shared orally with other participants.

Please read the privacy policy of the Remote Meeting Platform (Zoom) before attending our congress. Your visual and audio personal data are not collected directly by our University, but are collected by the Remote Meeting platform’s own methods (Zoom), which brings the participants together, created to organize videoconferences.

The papers you present in the sessions in the International Women’s Studies in Social Sciences are recorded as audio and video. In addition, the recordings can be used in scientific and educational environments and official social media accounts of Atatürk University when necessary.

  1. Transfer of your personal data, Purpose and Legal Reason

2.1. Your Personal Data can be shared with “Authorized Public Institutions and Organizations” based on legal reasons including the legitimate interest of the data controller, clearly stipulated in the Laws and mandatory for the data controller to fulfil its legal obligations, in order to fulfil our obligations regarding information and document sharing arising from the relevant legislation, as well as our other legal obligations where necessary.

2.2. If you attend the workshops and choose to open a camera with a microphone, you will participate with audio and video, since the remote meeting platform application, on which our online activities take place, is an application based abroad and the servers are located abroad.  Therefore, your visual and audio personal data are deemed to have been transferred abroad as per the Article 9 of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data No. 6698.

  1. Your Rights

To the extent that your data is processed by the University, and the University processes your data in the capacity of data controller, you have the following rights in terms of your personal data:

“Learning about whether any of your personal data is processed, requesting information regarding processing activities, learning about the purposes of processing, learning about those if the data has been transferred to third parties in the country or abroad, requesting its correction if the data is incomplete or incorrectly processed, requesting the deletion or removing of personal data in the event that the reasons for its processing disappear or the University does not have a legal basis or legitimate interest to process the said data, requesting the University to ensure that third parties, also authorized by the University, who process personal data, respect your rights under this section,  objecting to adverse results that may arise as a result of processing personal data through automated systems, and requesting compensation for the damage in case you suffer damage due to unlawful processing.

You can send your requests in writing within the scope of Article 11 of the Law, which regulates the rights of the person concerned, to the physical address of our University, or to the e-mail address of our university via e-mail over which your membership is confirmed in accordance with the “Communiqué on the Procedures and Principles of Application to the Data Controller”

  1. Data Controller Notification

As Atatürk University, whose detailed institutional information is given below, we will use your personal data in the capacity of Data Controller in accordance with the relevant legislation as per the Law on Protection of Personal Data No. 6698.
